In fact, within the Chinese Medical school of thought (TCM) there exists the notion of the perfect menstrual period.


TCM Optimal Period:

  • shows up every 26-32 days
  • lasts 4-7 days
  • minor lower abdominal discomfort is normal in the first 2 days as the uterus contracts to release menstrual tissue
  • the beginning is lighter leading to a heavier period
  • bright red color
  • blood that is not thin like water or thick with mucus, no mucus strings
  • no clotting especially not larger clots
  • concrete beginning and end to your cycle

 

In TCM, the uterus is nourished by all vital essences (blood, Qi, Yin and Yang). All organ groups and meridians interact with the uterus.
