Why do some women bypass terrible PMS, period cramps or menopausal symptoms?
Answer: Estrogen detox.
If you are Eating For Your Cycle, super-tasty beets can provide an estrogen detox.
Detox is very necessary during the ovulatory phase, when your body creates high levels of estrogen. Estrogen detox is important to reduce signs of estrogen dominance later in your cycle such as PMS, bloating, mood swings, endometriosis and heavy periods.
If you experience menopause symptoms the estrogen detox elements of this recipe can help you as well. The cessation of your period means that your body has stopped creating one form of estrogen called estradiol.
More about this summer recipe
Beets contain betaine which helps your liver ‘methylate’ to remove bad estrogen from your body. Methylation is involved in many enzymatic reactions and occurs billions of times per second in our cells. The methylation process helps to detoxify, repair DNA, increase energy, balance moods, and inflammation reduction.
Foods like beets and folate-rich leafy greens can help you with the methylation process, which protects your body from toxicity and provides estrogen detox.
These tasty root veggies are one of our favorite hormone balancing support foods because they build and purify the blood. On top of that, they are very accessible, easy to prepare, and delicious!
