BIG MISTAKE: Taking hormone-balancing supplements BIG MISTAKE: Taking hormone-balancing supplements BEFORE testing your hormones.

I see many women spending years and often a lot of money trying to balance their hormones and improve their symptoms without knowing what hormones are out of balance- for example- low progesterone, high estrogen, and low cortisol.

They may feel a bit better from taking the magnesium and the dietary changes, but it just isn’t enough for the body to heal.

If you invest your energy in balancing hormones, you must get the right testing.

 Why?

You don’t want to be in a situation where you spend a lot of money on estrogen detoxing supplements only to realize you have histamine issues and high cortisol.

Or maybe you have PCOS, but you don’t know what type you have or what exact hormones are off.

And I want you to know this mistake is NOT your fault.

There is such a lack of information on hormone balance that doctors don’t even request the right kind of testing to find out if there is an issue.

I decided to offer a free training tomorrow (Thursday) on how to navigate the ins and out of hormone testing so you can finally get answers.

In Thursday’s session, I’ll cover testing for thyroid, adrenal, fertility, estrogen dominance, and perimenopause. I’ll also share tips on how to advocate for yourself with your doctor and when to know if you need alternative testing.

Progesterone and estrogen need each other like yin Progesterone and estrogen need each other like yin and yang, Betty and Veronica, avocado on toast🥑.

The balance between the two will impact the health of the menstrual cycle in your reproductive years and can also affect your health going through menopause.

In our modern world, we're exposed to a lot more estrogen due to environmental factors (pesticides, plastics, tap water and petroleum-based skin care and cleaning products)

And progesterone is a lot harder to come by because so many people struggle with a lack of ovulation from stress, a short luteal phase, or hormonal conditions like PCOS.

An imbalance of estrogen and progesterone can look like:

-Heavy periods
-Fibroids, cysts and polyps
-Sore or fibrocystic breasts
-PMS irritability or rage
-Menstrual or ovulation headaches
-Period flu
-Low libido

Restoring the balance between estrogen and progesterone is possible.

Do you experience two or more of the following sym Do you experience two or more of the following symptoms? You may have estrogen dominance.

Cysts, fibroids, PMS, breast pain, cramping, heavy periods, and hormonal headaches all have one thing in common. If you have more than 2 of the above symptoms, you may be estrogen dominant.

Estrogen Dominance is a hormonal condition that can, to put it frankly, make you feel like absolute Crap most of the month.

You may:

-Feel like a different person after ovulation until before their period starts
-Have mood swings, depression and anxiety that puts a strain on your mental health
-experience painful or fibrocystic breasts leading up to your period

Then there is also low energy, random spotting and painful periods.

Estrogen dominance happens when: ⠀
⠀
A) too much estrogen is produced ⠀

B) estrogen isn't broken down properly and is reabsorbed instead of eliminated ⠀
⠀
C) you don't make enough progesterone⠀
⠀
D) all of the above ⠀
⠀
⠀
In addition to the symptoms listed in the graphic, this hormone imbalance can cause other serious issues: ⠀
⠀
-depending on your genetics, it can increase your risk of estrogen-triggered cancers⠀
-increase your risk of fibroid growth as you age⠀
-increase heavy flow leading to anemia (dizziness, low energy) ⠀
-increase the growth of cysts, which can rupture and cause internal bleeding⠀

It's important to be aware of the risks, but the good news is that once we uncover estrogen dominance, you can get a plan together to fix it.
⠀

Eating for estrogen dominance is more than simply Eating for estrogen dominance is more than simply eating more broccoli... certain foods have been shown in research to improve estrogen levels drastically.

One of my favorite chapters of my new book, The Hormone Type Cookbook, is the high estrogen chapter. It gets right into the science of how estrogen detox works and then goes into the specific foods to eat to support each phase of estrogen detox.

After that, you'll find a selection of estrogen-detoxing recipes to add to your weekly meal rotation. Some recipes include my Brussel Sprout Chicken Sheet Pan Meal, Carrot Shrimp Asian Noodle bowl, and my Raspberry Citrus Beet smoothie.

If you order a copy of the book and send a copy of your receipt to naturalhormonehealing@gmail.com before 3 pm MTD on April 6th you can attend my live estrogen detox cooking class for free.

If you just finished a really terrible period, I u If you just finished a really terrible period, I understand that you may be feeling defeated.

When you have debilitating period pain, the entire menstrual cycle can put you on an emotional AND physical roller coaster.

Leading up to your period you may feel a lot of anxiety leading up because of how painful it is. It’s even worse if you don’t know when your period will show up or if you notice some months are better than others.

Then when you get the period, the pain and period flu can take you out for a day (or two) or cause you to have to take a questionable about of pain medications.

And when your period is over, you feel a mix of relief, defeat and frustration that you need to start the entire cycle again. There’s also a lot of stress because you need to play catch up after being MIA for a few days.

The struggle is real!

If you’ve had a heavy bleed, period flu, or period pain is really common to feel depleted and exhausted.. and defeated because

What you do in the recovery phase can help you rebound faster and improve your chances of having a better period next month.
